“We don’t create a fantasy world to escape reality, we create it to be able to stay.” — Lynda Barry

Alas, I must post two posts today instead of one if I wanna meet my goal of three per month. But, I have been doing so much writing, generation, and editing of words this month.

So.

Many.

Words.

Since 3/14, I’ve written about 8,000 words myself, and generated about 13,000 more through the LLMs.

A handful of days after I registered provide.io llc with the state of Oregon, I learned about something called Polycentric Networks/Governance (PG) by “accident.” Or maybe “on purpose.” Or maybe “finally.”

I was working through the provide.io concept with one of the generative AI’s, when it finally dawned on me that I’m making an effort to build a PG network of entities from the ground up. I did not know what PG was until I asked the question within the context of provide.io:

Provide examples of centralized/decentralized systems and models.

And then it spit out “Polycentric Governance.” Which led me down a rabbit hole of learning.

Pretty sure it was ChatGPT or Pi. Because I was talking to it. With my mouth. Not my hands.

Centralized/decentralized?

It wasn’t until I had the provide.io model in my head, and I “observed” it from a meta perspective, that I realized that it was centralized, decentralized, and distributed.

Which I then also realized I knew, but didn’t know I knew, from all my work with computers, and the some of the fundamental programs, patterns, and protocols, that make the Internet possible. The internet is the ultimate form of a centralized/decentralized system.

It has made me feel so validated that what I’m working through isn’t wholly unique. I’ve always felt that this concept of a “Cellular Organization” which I’ve been working through since 2015 has to have already been done.

And, while it hasn’t yet, I believe all the pieces are coming together to support something like the Cellular Organization I’ve had in mind.

And, OMG. It has felt amazing knowing the right words, to find the right people, to come together and help build this thing.

I also, literally, have not known that what I’ve been thinking about for years, and years, and years now, has been the concept of “How to best effectively govern distributed groups of people?”

I suppose that’s what I get for going the GED route and skipping High School, and College. The result of which has led to a suspicious gap in knowledge outside of the realm of what I’m interested in, when I’m interested in it.

Dunno.

I somehow doubt I would have ever known about PG if I didn’t have my end goal in mind.

And I think that’s where I’ll leave this post off.

Since I still have another one to write.
